JUVÉDERM Ultra XC
We find that JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC is one of the best options, particularly when treating the lips and mouth. Ultra XC adds natural-looking plumpness to thin lips and smooths the appearance of perioral lines. The filler lasts about 12 months, after which the hyaluronic acid is absorbed by the body. If you decide after a year you want to maintain the results, we can repeat your Ultra XC treatment or discuss alternative injectables.
What Happens During Treatment?
Consultation
Your treatment begins with a consultation in which Dr. Jayne will assess your candidacy. If he determines that it's right for you, he may ask you to stop taking aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for a week to minimize the risk of excessive bleeding.
Injections
During your appointment, which typically takes 15 minutes or less, the injections will be strategically placed in specific treatment areas to help you achieve the results you desire. The dermal filler contains an anesthetic known as lidocaine that helps improve your comfort during treatment (lidocaine is denoted by the "XC" in the injectable name). However, if necessary, Dr. Jayne may also apply a topical anesthetic.
Results
You can expect to see results immediately, and they will improve as the formula integrates with your skin. For the rest of the day, avoid alcohol, strenuous exercise, and sun exposure. Dr. Jayne will let you know when you can resume wearing makeup.
